Man with box cutter arrested at Fleetwood
A 43-year-old man known for stealing food off customer’s plates turned violent early this morning when he waved a box cutter at a customer at the Fleetwood Diner in downtown Ann Arbor, city police said.
The waitress saw the man steal a plate of french fries at about 1:50 a.m. She asked him to at least return the plate, which the man did.
The man left, but returned a few moments later and began opening condiment bottles with his teeth. The waitress ordered him to leave and a customer also got involved.
Police said the man then took out a box cutter and started waving it at the customer while saying, "I’m a dog. I’m a dog." He also threw a chair and condiment bottles at the customer.
The customer picked up a chair to ward off the man, who left. Police found the suspect on William Street and arrested him. He was jailed pending authorization of felonious assult charges. Police said the man was visibly intoxicated.
