Standing Female Deity or Deity Impersonator

She holds a curved sacrificial knife in her upraised hand, and an incense bag in the shape of a skull hangs from her left hand. The serpents on her belt and headress may associate the figure with the cult of a particular goddess.

Lucrezia died of consumption in 1561 at the age of sixteen, a year after this portrait was painted.
