Benton Harbor

Holed up in a swamp near Benton Harbor
A kill crazy veteran when they get me I burn
I don’t say anything it’s their party handle it
On the hush this daisy chain of murder
Something screwy in the shack of my head
In a slow boil backtracking Mabel even though
Mabel doesn’t fit in the picture there are still
Plenty of curves I don’t grasp that blowzy blonde
That blind dame they claim is named Justice
That pink rosebud they nailed on her forehead
That blossomed into a bloody veil things are
Fading out the floor and ceiling come together
I dive out the door into the black evening gown
Of the night

Tolstoy

IMG_6771

Oh train the city
Fences you in turns its back on you
Cut through and through
Blank warehouse walls and
Stacks of flattened cars
Clipped branches and artificial limbs
Hypnotic somnambulist rhythm
Awaken there to a station
Tolstoy could die in

The Red Skull [1908]

trs

Here in the bowels of the earth, under the bed of the ocean, in almost complete darkness, and with a raving madmen and murderer struggling with another criminal — the position was enough to unsettle the sanest human being.
