The Seagull

Guess it’s really true that you
Can’t have your cake and eat it
Too                  You know
I read about a bride who
Wore her wedding dress
Every day for a year yet
Here you are already
All the way out
Of yours but
Not as out of it
As your groom
Passed out I hear
Didn’t even make it
Through the reception
What have you done?
What you were supposed to
You accomplished what was proposed
And then you flew over here and into
My bed transparently seeking oblivion
Like a seagull on the windshield
Of a freight train
