Man charged with stealing crab legs from Giant Eagle

A man pushing a shopping cart full of king crab legs ran from a Giant Eagle in North Huntington yesterday, through a Kohl’s parking lot and into the woods, police said, before officers arrested him in the men’s room of a nearby restaurant.

Vincent Michael Scala, 29, of Wilkinsburg, was charged with retail theft of more than $300 worth of king crab legs after the incident, which began about 4:30 p.m. at the Giant Eagle on Route 30.

Store managers chased the man, dressed in blue jeans and a black T-shirt, through the shopping center. Officers arrived to find several employees pointing toward Teddy’s Restaurant — and Mr. Scala inside.
