VENICE WEST, during those magenta-days was a carnival of emotions.
The sun hung at its zenith, to shower liquid gold on beat, conformist, hipster, junkie, youth and innocent, and the boiling controversy that was the Chambre de Gas, more commonly known as the Gas House.
THE BEAT SCENE was in full swing and for those who lived there that summer of ‘59 it will never be forgotten!
