Squirrel bites EMU student on toe
A 17-year-old Eastern Michigan University student was bitten by a squirrel near Sherzer Hall at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, campus police said.
The women said the squirrel approached her and she spoke to it, saying she didn’t have any food.
The squirrel then bit her on a toe on her left foot, and would not let go, she said. She had to shake the squirrel off her foot.
She suffered a deep puncture wound to her toe and was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for treatment. Witnesses said police kept an eye on the squirrel until hospital authorities informed them it would not have to be tested.
