Merry Christmas!

Ann Arbor police said they arrested a 22-year-old University of Michigan student who assaulted her roommates and destroyed Christmas decorations during a drunken rampage early this morning.

Officers responded to a disturbance call to a home in the 1000 block of Baldwin Avenue and found a woman sitting atop a screaming roommate to hold her down.

A Christmas tree in a main room was overturned and several ornaments were smashed, reports said. Witnesses said she was drinking heavily and started breaking property and hitting her roommates without warning.

After police handcuffed the woman, she continued screaming and then kicked a roommate in the face as officers picked her up from the ground. The woman appeared highly intoxicated.

A 21-year-old Flint man has received a prison sentence of at least 5 ½ years for a hammer attack on an exotic dancer.

Authorities say Austin M. Schmidt and Abbie VanAmburg smoked marijuana and were sitting in his car last year when he told her to close her eyes so he could give her a Sweetest Day gift. They say the Mundy Township man then repeatedly struck the 23-year-old with a hammer.
