POLICE BEAT: Remember Deputy, Anything Can Be a Weapon
Man reports attack by roommate
A 21-year-old Ann Arbor man reported that his roommate came at him with a plastic bat and a bottle of wine after they argued over the volume of the TV early this morning, city police said.
The man, who lives in the 800 block of Church Street, told police he was studying just after midnight when his roommate came upstairs and turned on the TV. He said they have had problems since she moved into the basement recently.
The woman said they wrestled over the remote control, and after he got it away from her, she turned the radio on loudly and opened the windows and doors. The man said the woman poured soy sauce on him, then grabbed a bat and wine bottle, which she swung at him.
The woman told the police she had a right to watch TV at whatever volume she wants and became belligerant with police.
The woman could be charged with assault.
Man is accused of attacking deputy
A 40-year-old man was arrested after authorities say he held his bicycle over his head in an attempt to throw it at a Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputy early Tuesday.
Sherriff’s Cmdr. Dave Egeler said deputies were called to the 1100 block of Woodglen Drive at 4:30 a.m., where a woman said her ex-boyfriend had broken a window of her car and flattened three tires. A deputy spotted the man in the area riding a bicycle, and when the man confronted him, he lifted the bike over his head to throw it at the deputy, Egeler said.
The deputy ordered the man to drop the bike and then got in a short struggle with him. The man was subdued with pepper spray and taken into custody.
