Crime Beat: The Cat Shaver of Ann Arbor

Traveler returns to find cat shaved

An Ann Arbor woman said someone shaved her cat while she was away on a business trip for several days, city police said. The woman, who lives in the 1100 block of Norman Place, said she was out of town in late July, and family members were watching her cat. She said they went to her apartment on July 25 and discovered her shaved cat outside.

Someone in the neighborhood told the family members a nearby resident took the cat and shaved it to be cooler in the hot weather. The woman said she spoke to an apartment manager who admitted to allowing a teenage girl into the apartment because she said her cat was inside.

Police said they are attempting to determine who shaved the cat, which was otherwise uninjured.
